Aoraki Mt Cook hut haunted?

Mackenzie District, New Zealand:

There is renewed interest in a remote V Mount Cook hut after reports of paranormal experiences.

The Hooker Hut was built in 1910, making it the oldest hut in the area.

Mountain Guide Jane Morris says she and a friend recently tramped the three hours it takes to get to the hut which sits about 1100 metres above Aoraki Mount Cook Village and stayed the night.

She says during their stay they felt like someone else was there when there wasn't, as they heard banging and shuffling throughout the night.

Morris says five other people have experienced similar encounters.

She says it's believed it may be the spirit of a man who was involved in building the hut who was killed in an avalanche in the early 1900's.
